Tasting Notes: The 2020 Bâtard-Montrachet is a wine of remarkable power and presence. Pale green luminosity veils a complex nose of vetiver, dried flowers, gentian and star anise. The palate is full-bodied with a broad, square texture and extraordinary dry extract that signals both the weight of the Grand Cru and the generosity of the 2020 vintage. The retro-olfaction is capital — this wine shows its true stature after years in bottle. Fermented and aged 14 months in 40% new oak barrels, then 4 months in stainless steel. Drink from 2024 through 2035+. Best with lobster, sea bass or refined poultry preparations.
