Les Racines du Ciel is named in honor of writer Romain Gary and is one of the finest expressions of Saint-Joseph produced by Dauvergne & Ranvier. Hand-harvested from steep granite hillside plots in Glun, Sarras and Serrières, where the vines almost seem to touch the sky.
Tasting Notes: Pure, elegant Northern Rhône Syrah from steep granite slopes: dark fruit, violet, pepper, spice and a clean mineral note on the nose. After three weeks of vatting the wine was aged 10 months in Vosges and Allier oak barrels, giving structure and aromatic depth without masking the terroir. Best from 2023 through 2030. Great with roast meats, cheese or a refined dinner.
Varietals: 100% Syrah
About the Estate: Founded in 2004 by François Dauvergne and Jean-François Ranvier, Dauvergne & Ranvier is a Rhône négociant house known for its meticulous in-depth work in both vineyard and winery across all Rhône appellations from Côte-Rôtie to the Luberon. Their philosophy centres on close vineyard partnerships, respectful viticulture and wines that clearly reflect each appellation's character. Nearly 75% of volumes are farmed organically.
