For collectors or curious drinkers alike, this 2006 vintage offers a rare glimpse into Super Tuscan ambitions from Paso Robles. Best served with hearty pastas or dry-aged steak.
Tasting Notes: Now beautifully evolved, this 2006 Cielo Rosso shows a ruby core with garnet edges. Aromas of dried wild berries, currant, cedar, and a touch of spice unfold gracefully with time in the glass. On the palate, softened tannins frame a rich, balanced structure, offering notes of red cherry, leather, and savory herbs. Its Super Tuscan roots shine through, supported by a persistent finish and bright acidity. Perfect for pairing with roasted meats or aged Italian cheeses.
Varietals: 73% Sangiovese, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon
About the Estate: Chateau Margene was founded in 1998 by Michael and Margene Mooney, who sought out Paso Robles for its ideal Cabernet terroir. With help from veteran winemaker John Munch, the estate quickly gained acclaim—most notably when its 2000 Cabernet topped the International Cabernet Shootout. Today, the Mooneys and their two sons continue to produce small-lot, estate-grown wines that blend precision and personality. The Cielo Rosso, inspired by Italy’s Super Tuscan tradition, is a reflection of the family's commitment to crafting expressive, age-worthy reds.
