Chateau du Bellay 2019, Saumur Champigny

Tasting Notes: Deep red in the glass, this old-vine Cabernet Franc opens with dark fruit, truffle, and toasted hazelnut on the nose. The palate is smooth and structured, with silky tannins supporting flavors of blackberries, subtle roast, and a lingering finish touched by dark chocolate. Balanced and refined, it brings both elegance and richness to the table. A beautiful match for roasted meats, grilled fish, or a wedge of aged cheese.

About the Estate: Château du Bellay is located in Bellevigne-les-Châteaux and Brézé, where winemaker Guillaume Le Lay cultivates four hectares of Cabernet Franc within three walled clos. Protected by tufa stone walls and aged in underground limestone galleries, the wines reflect both the tradition and precision of this unique site. With 50-year-old vines rooted in clay-limestone soils, the estate produces concentrated, expressive wines that highlight the full potential of Saumur-Champigny’s terroir.
