Premier Cru – Pommard AOC
Pour this when you want to impress the in-laws or toast the friend who just landed the big job. It starts smooth, finishes strong, and makes every course feel just a little more elevated.
Tasting Notes: The unique microclimate of the Clos gives this Pommard 1er Cru its signature personality. The wine opens with a soft, round elegance—long and silky on the palate with a gentle mellowness that builds gradually. As it evolves, its underlying power emerges, delivering a structured finish marked by impressive amplitude and lasting depth. Ideal with peppered meats, roast lamb, game, or rich cheeses like Langres and Epoisses. Drink within five years, or cellar up to twelve for added complexity.
Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir
About the Estate: Château de Saint-Romain dates back to the 13th century, originally a priory before being transformed into a château in the 15th century. Winemaking has long been part of its legacy, with historic cellars and vineyard plantings surrounding the estate. Today, the fifth generation of the Sordet family oversees the domaine, cultivating 12.78 hectares across south-east-facing slopes known for their clay-limestone soils and white marl. The estate is certified HVE Level 3 and focuses on producing elegant, terroir-driven wines with a deep respect for biodiversity. Blending tradition and innovation, Château de Saint-Romain offers wines that express both complexity and finesse.
