With old-vine depth and a tailored finish, this wine wears its structure like a fine suit. It’s a standout with grilled ribeye, thyme-roasted chicken, or even a truffle burger. A modern classic with just the right amount of edge.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of ripe red berries and subtle toasted oak draw you in, hinting at the elegance to come. On the palate, it’s sleek and poised, with vibrant acidity keeping the wine fresh through a core of cassis, plum, and crushed herbs. The texture is polished, the structure firm yet accessible, and the finish lingers with a whisper of graphite and spice. This is a classic Saint-Estephe: restrained power, delivered with style.
Varietals: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc
About the Estate: Château Clauzet’s modern chapter began in 1997 when Baron Maurice Velge acquired the estate along with neighboring Château de Côme—an act of passion rather than mere investment. He brought on José Bueno, formerly of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, to lead winemaking, signaling a commitment to excellence. With vines averaging 40 years and traditional practices like manual harvesting and ploughing, the estate honors its Saint-Estèphe terroir. The cellar blends modern precision and classic technique, with fermentation in concrete vats and aging in a balanced mix of new and one-year-old barrels. Today, Château Clauzet produces structured yet elegant wines that reflect both heritage and meticulous care.
