Made only in exceptional vintages and just 500 cases strong, this Grand Vin is a Bordeaux to savor when the meal matters and the guest list is short. Deep, structured, and mineral-laced, it’s built for truffle risotto, aged lamb, or celebrating something you almost didn’t think would happen.
Tasting Notes: Dark purple in the glass, this wine opens with rich aromas of blackberry and a hint of exotic spice. The palate is structured and focused, balancing ripe black fruit with salty mineral notes and earthy complexity drawn from the vineyard’s soils. The texture is refined, the energy restrained but persistent, and the finish long, fresh, and elegant. A limited release that showcases the finest expression of Château Bel-Air in only the best vintages. Only 500 cases of the Grand Vin are made in years that Roland & Golwinne think the quality of the harvest warrants it.
Varietals: 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc
About the Estate: In 1716, Chateau Bel-Air was born on the foothills of the Garonne river. More than 150 years later, in 1898, Martin Borderie, a wine merchant from the Correze region came to Bordeaux and acquired the Chateau. He was the great-great-grandfather of the current proprietor Roland Coiffe. In 1921, Jean-Eugene Borie was born, and he devoted his professional life to Bordeaux fine wines by renovating Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou and then Chateau Grand-Puy Lacoste. In 2005, Golwinne & Roland took over the estate.
